About CADRA

It is our time to leverage the growing demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, including harnessing big data (BD) to reveal healthcare patterns of practice. Recognizing the impact of BD/AI on the inter-professional practice of radiation oncology, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology (CARO), and the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) have collaborated to establish the Canadian Artificial Intelligence and big Data in Radiotherapy Alliance (CADRA) as a subcommittee under COMP’s Quality Assurance and Radiation Safety Advisory Committee (QARSAC).

Ensuring forward momentum of the Canadian Partnership for Quality Radiotherapy’s (CPQR)’s divested BD initiative, which championed the use of common nomenclature, CADRA serves as a pan-Canadian resource and international liaison, advocating for and facilitating the harmonized implementation and ethical responsible use of BD/AI.

By leveraging relevant expertise and networks from across disciplines and jurisdictions, CADRA acts as a convenor to accelerate and amplify relevant initiatives in the optimization of big data linkages and leveraging this data in the implementation of AI initiatives across Canada.

News

A national CADRA survey has been released to representatives in each RT centre across Canada, establishing a baseline and assessing readiness for BD/AI implementation and promoting awareness of the recently released Operational Ontology for Radiation Oncology (OORO). OORO’s development is the critical next step beyond TG-263’s standard nomenclature, to facilitate standardized collection and use of patient, diagnosis and treatment data.

If you believe your radiation treatment centre has not yet participated in this survey, please reach out to CADRA for more information.
